Invitation to the Transatlantic Dialogue on "Rising China: Economic and Security Challlenges for Europe and America" in Munich on Dec. 9th
with Prof. Dr. Markus Taube
The Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP) and the U.S. Consulate General in Munich invite you to another topical dialogue with leading experts from both sides of the Atlantic on the strategic challenges that both Europe and the United States face - this time in a seminar dealing with the advent of China as a world power. The seminar comes at the heel of Chinese-European and American-Chinese summits and thus provides a timely opportunity for discussion. Our THINK!DESK China Research & Consulting partner Prof. Dr. Markus Taube will be one of the panelists.
The complete list of partners in discussion will be:
- Franco Algieri, Senior Research Fellow, Center for Applied Policy Research, is responsible for the Center's projects on EU Asia and EU security policy.
- Dan Blumenthal, Resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, Washington, D.C., will discuss the economic challenges and their American policy debate.
- Peter Brookes, Senior Fellow and Director of Asian Studies, The Heritage Foundation, Washington, D.C., brings extensive policy-making, policy analysis and military experience to the discussion.
- Markus Taube, Professor for East Asian & China Economic Studies and Director of the Institute for East Asian Studies at University of Duisburg-Essen, is internationally recognized for his work on multinational enterprises and direct foreign investment with a regional focus on China.
- Saskia Hieber, International Political Studies Chief, Bavarian Academy for Political Education and expert on China's energy and security policy, will chair the discussions.
The seminar will take place at the Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP), Maria Theresia Str. 21, 81675 München, on Friday, December 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. (including an informal lunch snack). Participation is free of charge, but space is limited. Registrations are accepted in the order received.
